An Indoor Play Activity

Throughout our history, we humans have come up with some pretty strange beasts, extravagant creatures that exist only in the imagination. Now it’s time to put that to good use!

Materials Required:

  • Paper
  • Crayons or markers


Instructions:

Throughout our history, we humans have come up with some pretty strange beasts, extravagant creatures that exist only in the imagination.

Most of them are fascinating to kids; why not share this list of famous classical “animals” from other worlds and suggest that your child draw pictures to accompany them?

The chimera: Head of a lion, body of a goat, and tail of a snake.
The centaur: Half man, half horse.
The dragon: A huge fire-breathing reptile with wings.
The minotaur: Half man, half bull.
Pegasus: A winged horse.
The satyr: Half man, half goat.
The sphinx: Head of a woman, body of a lion, wings.
The unicorn: Small horse with a long, straight horn growing from the center of the forehead.
