Instructions:

An innovative teacher we know once had everyone make elephant head gear and roam the outdoors, attracting great attention from onlookers.

Here’s how to make your own elephant gear.

Start off with a paper shopping bag.

Cut eye holes and a nose hole.

Next, roll up large piece of kraft paper, so you have a sturdy tube about two and a half feet long and two inches wide.

Cut four lengthwise slits at one end of the tube, so you can fold back four sections like petals on a flower.

Insert the “petals” into the nose hole, and tape them to the inside of the bag-the trunk will now remain firmly in place.

Next, cut out a pair of large ears from thin cardboard or posterboard.

Affix them to the bag with a piece of wide masking tape running the full length of each ear. Don’t worry about making them immobile – elephant ears are supposed to flop around.

Turn your elephant loose for a waltz in your yard – you’ll be sure to amaze your friends and neighbors.
