Children’s Activity 78: The Household Gallup Poll

An Indoor Play Activity

Turn your child into a roving interviewer; supply a clipboard, paper, and pencil, and stand back.

Materials Required:

  • Clipboard
  • Paper
  • Pencil

Instructions:

Turn your child into a roving interviewer; supply a clipboard, paper, and pencil, and stand back.

You’re about to find out how family members really feel about important issues like favorite colors, preferred pets, favorite ice cream flavors, vacation plans, and what time they like to go to bed.

You’re about to learn the power of the Household Gallup Poll.

The limits to this activity exist only in your child’s imagination; after you explain the initial idea of a poll (you may be able to sneak in a little math for the older kids), all you have to do is answer forthrightly, refer the poll taker to other likely respondents, and sit back and wait for the results.

You may find that 100 percent of your kids feel they should be able to stay up later. But you can rest assured that the findings are nonscientific enough for you to pronounce certain results inconclusive.

This Children’s Arts and Crafts Activity is sponsored by Zane Education – the home of online Visual Learning.
